Many people suffering from insomnia are finding relief on the mat, and it’s a good thing too since a lack of adequate sleep can lead to a host of problems. Sleep deprivation depresses the immune system (which can lead to infections), increases irritability and slows reaction time, which increases the likelihood of accidents. Not sleeping enough can also accelerate the aging process. Here are some poses and breathing techniques which may help you if you suffer from insomnia:
Poses to try (hold for at least 1-2 minutes or more depending on your level of comfort):
Uttanasana (standing forward bend)
Paschimottanasana (seated forward bend)
Viparita Karani (legs up the wall)
Jathara Parivartanasana (revolved abdomen/reclined twist)
Savasana (corpse pose)
Pranayama to try (practice these before savasana):
Belly Breathing
Alternate nostril breathing (start with only 2-3 rounds and work your way up to 8-10)

This popular specialty class is now on our regular schedule. Experience and feel the difference! This class is just like our regular Vinyasa Flow class with more heat for added benefits. Hot Vinyasa Flow will further aid your body in releasing toxins (through sweat), improve your strength, flexibility and stamina, and melt away tension. Not to mention get your body into tip-top shape! Options and assistance will be given to provide you with the appropriate intensity. Eclectic music adds to your experience.
Those who are de-conditioned (i.e. not physically active) or brand new to yoga are encouraged to attend either Beginner Yoga, Yoga Renew, or our regular Vinyasa Flow classes before trying this class. Please bring water to drink, a towel, and your yoga mat.

As the summer winds down and we begin preparing for the inevitable changes that a busy autumn brings, give your “Self” a chance to relax, restore, and renew. Pause, breathe, and explore each asana. During this blissful yoga class, props are used to completely support your body, enabling you to release all tension and stress. This class is appropriate for everyone. Please bring a large towel or blanket that can be rolled up.
